Nutrition bars are very popular nowadays. They are convenient, they taste good, but they are not necessarily healthy. Most of them are highly processed, loaded with sugars, made with cheap ingredients, and contain allergens and additives that can cause digestive distress. They are more like candy bars than nutrition bars.
However, some nutrition bars are better than others. According to their ingredients and nutritional value, here are my five favorite ones. These bars are minimally processed, sweetened with natural sweeteners, and free of gluten, dairy, and soy. Most of them are vegetarian, but I’ve included my favorite Paleo bar, which is not vegetarian but very healthy for people who consume animal protein.
It’s obviously best to make your own nutrition bars, but if you are looking for a quick, healthy snack on the go, here are my five favorite nutrition bars:
1. Go raw
The bars are raw, meaning that they haven’t been cook above 118F in order to preserve all nutrients and enzymes. They are crunchy, they taste good, and they are organic, vegan, and gluten-free. They are sweetened with fruits.
2. Lydia’s Organic
Lydia’s Organics bars are crunchy, low in sugar, and made with high-quality ingredients. These bars are organic, raw, vegan, and gluten-free. They are sweetened with fruits.
These organic, vegan, and gluten-free bars contain complete protein without refined sugar or added “natural flavors”. They are sweetened with coconut nectar.
LÄRABAR is a delicious blend of unsweetened fruits, nuts and spices. Each flavor contains no more than nine ingredients. These bars are vegetarian and gluten-free, and are sweetened with dates and honey.
The EPIC bar is a 100% grass fed animal based protein bar designed as nature intended. These bars are paleo friendly, gluten-free, and very low in sugar. They are sweetened with fruits.
