For a quick and nourishing breakfast (or snack!), simply spread some organic almond butter on a piece of toasted Ezekiel bread, and add a few slices of apple and sprinkle with cinnamon. Cinnamon add a nice and sweet touch while helping to balance blood sugar.
I like Ezekiel bread because the grains are organic and sprouted, which facilitate digestion and improve nutrient absorption. It’s a very nutritious bread that is usually found in the frozen section of most health food stores, although now it can be found in most regular grocery stores. They also have different gluten-free breads but I prefer the regular ones. They are really tasty, you should try if you haven’t already.
When purchasing almond butter, make sure it’s not blended with vegetable oil or have other ingredients to it. The only ingredients in it should be almonds. You can also make your own using almonds and a food processor, and in some health food stores, you can make your own by grinding almonds, just like what you would do with peanuts. Almonds are very nutritious. They are a great source of monounsaturated fats (good fats), protein, as well as calcium, magnesium and iron.
This breakfast is really good for kids too! Enjoy!
