5 THINGS YOU CAN DO TO HELP YOUR BODY DETOX

Detoxing the body is very important to maintain health. We accumulate so many toxins and impurities in our system over time – and not only from the food we eat – but also from the water we drink, the air we breathe, the stress, pollution, and so on.

To cleanse your body, you can try various cleanses using herbs, supplements, or even go on mono diets or a juice cleanse, but if you want to do something gentler on your body and on a daily basis, here are 5 simple things you can do to help your body detox naturally.

1. Juicing

Juicing fresh fruits and vegetables is a great way to detox the body naturally. Fresh juices are alkaline, anti-inflammatory, hydrating and easy to digest, and provide various vitamins and minerals. Juices are best taken on an empty stomach. They are best taken first thing in the morning or between meals. Avoid making sweet juices that are only made with fruits as they are very high in sugar. And ideally, you want to make your juices at home as freshly pressed juices are best, or if not possible, try to purchase cold-pressed juices that are low in sugar.

2. Green smoothies

Green smoothies, if properly made, are very nutritious and a great way to add vegetables to your diet. They are easy to digest and make excellent breakfast or snacks. Same as juices, smoothies are best consumed on an empty stomach – not with meals. If you feel adventurous, try adding herbs, spices or even superfoods like coconut oil or maca. Milk doesn’t have to be your base – You can also try coconut water, green tea or even kefir. Try to vary your ingredients.

3. Drink lemon water upon raising

Upon waking, serve yourself a glass of room temperature water with the juice of half a lemon in it. It’s a good habit to take as it helps to alkalize and detox the body, while activate digestion and boost immunity. Instead of lemon, you can also try with unpasteurized apple cider vinegar.

4. Eat more fibers

Fibers are important to help balance blood sugar, support satiety and detox the body by having healthy and regular bowel movements. Stick to fresh, wholesome foods. Great sources of fibers include flax and chia seeds, apples, berries, raw vegetables, beans and whole grains such as oats and brown rice. You can also add them to your smoothies if you like.

5. Stay hydrated

Drinking clean water is one of the best things you can do for your health. Not only it helps you to stay hydrated, but it helps to flush toxins out of the body, gives energy, boost mood and immunity, improve skin health and promote weight loss. You should be drinking about half your body weight in ounces of water.
