Is it summer? You like berries? If so, then try this triple berry smoothie. It’s sure to please you. Not only it’s made with one cup of mixed berries, but also with almond milk, banana, chia seeds, maca and kale. Ok. If you don’t like kale, why not use dandelion leaves, collards or if you like it simple and you like smoothies that doesn’t taste like there are leaves in it, then use spinach. Spinach is probably the only green you can’t taste in smoothies, even if you add a lot of it. If you will be serving to kids for the first time, you definitely want to start that way. Kale would be the next upgrade. When starting using kale in smoothies though, you want to go gradually because its taste maybe a bit overwhelming at first.
Superfoods
Chia seeds and maca are two wonderful superfoods. Chia seeds are a great source of proteins, fiber, essential fatty acids and antioxidants, and maca boosts energy levels and libido and balances mood and hormones. Kale is another superfood that provides vitamin A, C and K, as well as minerals calcium and iron. It also helps reduce inflammation and support the body’s detoxification. If you like, add a teaspoon of coconut oil to boost energy levels and help balance blood sugar. Coconut oil is another incredible superfood with many health benefits.
I like to make this smoothie all year long but especially during the warmer months of the year as most smoothies are very cooling to the body. This berry smoothie is vegan and soy-free.
